A graduate of Central Kitsap High School, Tom Weaver lives and works in Bremerton and has been active in the Bremerton community for decades, serving on the Bremerton YMCA Advisory Board from 2013-2018, the Kitsap Legal Services Board of Directors from 2008-2013, and Kitsap County Bar Association Board of Trustees from 2012-2020, including as its President from 2016-2018.

Kitsap Sun Letter to the Editor (10-16-21):
A recent letter to the editor suggested that anyone endorsing a candidate for election should do due diligence before making such an endorsement. I mightily agree. I endorse Tom Weaver for Bremerton Municipal Court Judge and here is my due diligence.
I observed Mr. Weaver in my courtroom during my 15 years on the Superior Court Bench. He was always prepared, always advocated on behalf of his client, and most importantly, knew his subject matter inside and out. Mr. Weaver routinely practiced criminal law which is the almost exclusive work done by a municipal court. Bremerton is a one-judge court so the elected judge will need to hit the ground running without any backup or judicial support. Mr. Weaver's skill set and experience uniquely qualify him for this work as evidenced by his endorsements from the LOCAL bench and bar.
A second aspect of due diligence is an examination of managerial experience. A judge not only manages the courtroom but must manage employees, budgets, relationships with other city officials, and a myriad of administrative details that are both mundane and important to the proper functioning of the court. Mr. Weaver has managed a successful law firm for decades and served as an officer and trustee of our Kitsap Bar Association. He knows to find out what rules govern any administration and then follow those rules. So, please accept my endorsement of Tom Weaver.
Kitsap Sun Letter to the Editor (10-16-21):
I have known Tom Weaver for over six years and I trust his legal analysis without reservation. While I value the breadth of his work as a an attorney, I am especially appreciative of the commitment he has made to the advancement of equality and ensuring access to the courts. Without a doubt, Tom Weaver is an asset to the Bremerton area and the citizens he serves.
Mr. Weaver has been involved in the Kitsap County community and served as board member for various non-profit organizations. Unlike Ms. Flood, Mr. Weaver has never behaved in a manner that has potentially jeopardized funding for the non-profit organizations, nor has he been asked to step down from his position as a board member for those non profit organizations.
Tom Weaver has a reputation as a fair, efficient, and experienced attorney. He is the best choice for Bremerton Municipal Court judge. Please exercise your right and responsibility as a citizen and be sure to vote for Tom Weaver for Bremerton Municipal Court. That is a vote for experience we can trust!
Kitsap Sun Letter to the Editor (10-21-21):
After almost 24 years on the bench, Judge James Doctor is retiring as Bremerton Municipal Judge. Judge Doctor has served our community with grace, fairness, and professionalism. Judges are elected in Washington state. Judge Doctor's retirement presents all of us with a heavy responsibility.
Should our next judge be Tom Weaver or Tracy Flood? When presented with all the facts, I believe you will agree that our only viable choice is Tom Weaver. Not just because Mr. Weaver is Judge Doctor’s choice, or because he has an overwhelming number of endorsements, but also because electing Ms. Flood is a simply too much of a risk. If you have not already, please take a moment to read the October 1 article in the Kitsap Sun, “Complaints against Kitsap Community Resources board president latest turmoil at agency.”
Bremerton voters should choose their next municipal court judge based upon professionalism and competence. After much thought and contemplation, I am convinced Tom Weaver is the best choice.
Tom Weaver has volunteered countless hours using his legal skills to advance the principles of access to justice, diversity, and racial justice - principles he is deeply committed to and will continue to promote in the Bremerton Municipal Court.
I have known Tom Weaver for 25 years. He is smart, inquisitive, works hard and is a respected lawyer. He has all the necessary qualities to be an excellent judge. As a Kitsap County judge and Bremerton resident, please join me in voting for Tom Weaver for Bremerton Municipal Court judge.
Tom Weaver's keen intellect, along with his practical courtroom experience, make him the best choice for Bremerton Municipal Court Judge.
I have been practicing law for close to 40 years and have known Tom for, at least, the last 20 years. I have always respected his professionalism in court but I did not truly become aware of his knowledge and concern for the law until I had the pleasure and opportunity to work with him on the WACDL Amicus Committee. I have no doubt that he will be the compassionate, unbiased and professional judge that Bremerton wants and deserves.
